About Me
Why I Became a Doula
When I was 13, my family's black lab had her first litter of puppies. While my mom and dad were out on a date night, I attended to her while she gave birth to thirteen puppies... in my bathroom floor. I've been a pregnancy and birth nerd ever since.
As a young adult, I strongly considered pursuing a medical path and becoming a midwife. I ultimately chose to get an Environmental Science degree and worked in the field for several years, most recently working as a farm manager for a nonprofit. I'm still passionate about sustainable agriculture and plan to homestead with my family soon.
In March of 2022, I got pregnant with our first baby. I very much enjoyed learning everything I could about pregnancy and birth through my own experience. I decided to pursue a low-intervention birth at a local birth center with a practice of midwives, both of which I am grateful were available in my area. When I went into labor, the birth center was short-staffed, so I went to the hospital. The midwife and nursing staff were on-board with my birth plan, and I was fortunate enough to have an empowering birth while welcoming our amazing baby boy. Bringing him earthside was the coolest thing I have ever done! When I walked out of the hospital feeling like I was 100 feet tall, I decided I wanted to help other women achieve the beautiful, empowering birth experiences they deserve.
My mission is to help you determine what you want from your birth experience and work together to accomplish your goals.
