Hi, I'm Mallory.
You deserve an empowering birth, and I'd be honored to help you achieve it!
Stop scrolling.
Take a slow, deep breath. Sit still for a moment.Â
How are you feeling right now? Excited... Nervous... Uncertain... Confident... Clueless?
Pregnancy and birth in our culture is riddled with confusion and fear. Many birthing mothers are taught that their bodies are incapable of safely birthing their babies. They are left feeling powerless, following medical providers' recommendations without being truly informed. Unfortunately, when mothers feel scared and out of control, birth trauma often ensues.
Birth is a normal, healthy process! You don't have to be afraid when you meet your baby!
I'm here to help you take a pause and decide what is important to you. I want to invite you to take a look around my website. If you think that you could use some support to achieve the birth experience you want, please reach out to me. I'd love to get to know you!
What is a doula?
A doula is someone who can:
Provide continuous emotional and physical support to a birthing person and their partner during labor
Help with birth preparation and education during pregnancy
Offer postpartum support
Provide information that will help you make your own medical decisions
Attend hospital, birth center, or home births
A doula is not:
A regulated, licensed medical provider (like an OB, nurse, or midwife)
Someone who can give medical advice or perform medical exams or procedures
In short, if you decide to hire me, I will work with you to achieve the birth experience you've dreamed of. My allegiance will not be to your hospital, doctor, nurses, or your extended family. My only priority will be supporting you and your partner in striving for a safe, peaceful, love-filled birth. Birth is unpredictable. There are no guarantees. We will do what we can to prepare you for the birth experience that you want. Let me help you tap into the power of the billions of women that have come before you on this journey.
How can a doula help you?
A 2017 Cochrane review showed that having consistent support during labor can make you:
More likely to have spontaneous vaginal birth, shorter labor, and higher Apgar scores for your baby
Less likely to have an epidural, vacuum or forceps delivery, Cesarean delivery, negative feelings about your birth experience, and even postpartum depression.
To read more about the evidence on how hiring a doula can improve outcomes for you and your baby, check out this article by Evidence Based Birth.
Apart from improving medical outcomes, a doula can:
Provide pregnancy and childbirth education
Help you design a customized birth plan
Equip your partner to better support you and improve the partner's experience
Help you mentally and emotionally prepare for labor and birth
Reassure and inspire you and your partner
Provide non-drug pain relief through several techniques
Equip you to self-advocate for what's important to you
Assist in communication with medical staff
And much more! Doulas are amazingly versatile, passionate people.
